for the people of D12

Join us on the adventure as we pioneer a new local church in the heart of D12, with the hope of reaching unchurched people.

Meet the Pioneers

At the start of 2023, Shane & Ruth with their two children began to sense a call to pioneer a new local church in the heart of Dublin 12. Having already been apart of two local churches in Crumlin during their teenage years, their hearts break again for the people of this area & long to pioneer a new community for people of all ages & stages.

Shane has served on staff in St. Catherine’s as a Pastor for a number of years now, and in September 2024 will begin training in the church of Ireland as a Pioneer Minister.

If you’d like to connect with Shane or Ruth, the button below will connect you with them. They both look forward to sharing a cuppa and exploring the future with you.

Local Gathering

Our next opportunity to pray together is in the New Year, we’ll be meeting to prayer walk the area of Crumlin on Tuesday 14th of January from 7-8pm.

What we’ve been up to so far..

launch of prayer gatherings

We gathered for the first time publicly in Crumlin this past September in St Mary’s Church to worship & pray together. We had about 20 people join us, including Rev. Ruth Noble. We gathered again in October, this time online with about 25 of us. These times have been a source of encouragement and reminder of the value of prayer and how important it will be for us as a community.

partnership with parish

Shane was delighted to be invited and to speak at St Marys Church for their Harvest Gathering in October. It was a great opportunity to meet the parishioners and for them to hear our heart for Crumlin. Shane got to attend St Marys midweek communion service. This was incredibly special to be apart of & afterwards join for tea & coffee, which was really insightful to hear the stories of faith down the generations. It brought a new appreciation for the parish. As a staff team, we took a morning and visited the parish, met with Ruth and got the chance to pray with her together.

pioneer ministries

Shane started his training this past September as a Pioneer Minister in the Church of Ireland. Travelling over to Sheffield by plane, Shane joined seven other Pioneers in Training at ChurchArmy’s ‘Wilson Carlisle Centre’. The second training took place just recently in November. Shane has also been participating in the Dublin & Glendalough Pioneer Hubs with clergy from around the diocese looking at different ways of pioneering as leaders.

We were also delighted to participate in a press release video for Pioneer Ministries with the direction of Joe Kelly. The video has been played at Synods across the country. You can watch it by following the link below.

Local Church is in partnership with Pioneer Ministry.

Pioneer Ministries exist in addition to, rather than instead of, traditional approaches that the Church is currently using to reach out to and engage with those around it. Pioneer Ministry plays its role within a Mixed Ecology of the Church, with traditional and new ministries complementing each other and honouring each other through mutual prayer, respect, recognition and learning.
